The published book History of Representative Institutions in Rajasthan (with reference to Mewar) throws light on the history of representative institutions in Mewar. Some books have been published on the political side of these representative institutions (executive, judiciary, legislature) but the historical side of these institutions has remained unpublished. This book has a way of rectifying this shortcominAfter the arrival of the British in India, the people of Mewar had to face adverse conditions, due to which there were many farmers’ movements, Prajamandal movement was started for the establishment of responsible government. As a result of the strenuous efforts of the leaders of Praja Mandal, the way was paved for the establishment of these representative institutions. Various socio-political organizations contributed to this struggle.1449
